Specialist-level professional recognized as an expert in own area within the organization with depth and breadth of expertise in software and DevOps project delivery. Works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations. Solves difficult and complex problems and takes a broad perspective in identifying solutions. May lead functional teams or projects and coaches, delegates, and reviews work of less experienced team members. Owns complete software and DevOps engagements end to end, including multi-team efforts that combine custom application, Ignition, integration, and platform scope. Accountable for the commercial outcome as well as the delivery outcome: designs the delivery model for each engagement, structures agile execution inside fixed-price and milestone-based contracts, leads proposal and estimating efforts for iterative work, and manages the client relationship through negotiation, change, and escalation. What You’ll Do
- Own complete software and DevOps engagements end to end, including multi-team efforts across application, integration, and platform scope
- Hold accountability for the commercial outcome as well as delivery, including margin, revenue recognition, and forecast accuracy
- Design the delivery model for each engagement, choosing cadence, milestone structure, and release approach to fit the contract, the client's change control, and the team
- Lead proposal development and estimating for iterative work, translating an initial backlog into an estimate, contingency, and milestone billing structure
- Negotiate scope, schedule, and change with client stakeholders, managing backlog trade-offs against the contracted budget
- Coordinate multiple scrum teams on one engagement, including joint planning and cross-team dependency management
- Own the release strategy for the engagement, including release candidate promotion, production deployment windows, rollback plans, and client change-control approvals
- Work with client product owners to set product goals and priorities, and coach them in backlog ownership where the role is new to them
- Build and own the integrated project plan across teams, disciplines, vendors, and external partners
- Direct project staffing strategy in partnership with Engineering Managers
- Lead risk management for the engagement across technical, commercial, schedule, and client-relationship risk, including technical debt and dependencies on client systems
- Use delivery metrics, including sprint completion, cycle time, deployment frequency, lead time for changes, and change failure rate, to improve the engagement's delivery flow, applying them to the team and service rather than to individuals
- Serve as the primary escalation point for project issues and drive them to resolution
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and third-party partners engaged on the project
- Lead client status reviews, sprint and milestone reviews, and reporting to client management
- Coordinate phased and multi-site deployments, including acceptance testing, go-live, and hand-off to operations
- Partner with the DevOps Technical Delivery Manager and Engineering Managers on cross-team sequencing and capacity
- Identify and pursue follow-on work within existing accounts
- Coach project managers, technical leads, and engineers in agile practice
- Contribute to the firm's software project execution standards, project templates, and estimating practice
- Support recovery of troubled projects, including re-baselining the backlog, replanning, and client remediation
- Develop and maintain relationships with key client contacts, including decision makers
- Convey a positive image of BW Design Group consistent with the Guiding Principles of Leadership
- Travel to client sites as needed for go-live, commissioning, and client meetings
- Other duties as assigned.
- Billable Hour Target expectations will be provided by Leader during the on-boarding process.
What You’ll Bring

- Strong contract literacy, including terms, acceptance criteria, change orders, and claim avoidance
- Advanced risk management across technical, commercial, schedule, and relationship dimensions
- Working command of delivery metrics, including the DORA measures, and the judgment to act on them rather than report them
- Technical depth in the software development lifecycle, CI/CD, GitOps, containers and Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code sufficient to challenge estimates, architecture trade-offs, and release plans
- Working knowledge of Ignition as an application development platform and of SCADA, MES, and historian systems, and their delivery implications
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing operations across the consumer products, food and beverage, life science, and industrial sectors
- Proven ability to serve as escalation point and resolve client-facing conflict
- Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and third-party delivery partners
- Coaching and mentoring capability for project managers, technical leads, and client product owners
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including reporting to client management
- Ability to work independently with guidance only in the most complex situations
