Job Description:
OurOpportunity
Chewy Operations Teams relies on trusted metrics, reporting, and analysis to manage performance across a large and complex fulfillment network. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst II to independently own operational reporting and analytics that help leaders and operators understand results, investigate issues, and improve the customer experience.
This role combines advanced SQL analysis, dashboard and data-product development, recurring reporting, data quality leadership, and operational deep dives. The BIA II will own analytical workstreams within defined fulfillment domains, navigate questions whose requirements are not always clear, and translate operational needs into trusted metrics, actionable insights, and practical recommendations.
What You'll Do
- Independently own operational metrics, dashboards, recurring reports, and analytical workstreams for defined Core Fulfillment domains from requirements through delivery, adoption, and ongoing maintenance.
- Develop advanced SQL queries, analysis-ready datasets, and repeatable analytical workflows that combine multiple sources and support operational reviews, investigations, and improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and reconcile reporting data across systems, investigate anomalies, and lead quality control and testing for important metrics, dashboards, and analytical deliverables.
- Perform deep-dive analysis using large and complex datasets, apply appropriate statistical methods, identify root causes and performance drivers, quantify opportunities, and recommend actions.
- Partner with Operations, Operations Support, Analytics, Data Science, and Technology teams to resolve ambiguous requirements, document business logic, and design analytical solutions that address the intended decision.
- Translate findings into clear data stories, visualizations, and recommendations, then work with stakeholders to apply the analytical approach and measure results.
- Create reusable frameworks and team practices, review analytical work, and mentor less experienced analysts in SQL, visualization, validation, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Business, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant full-time experience in business intelligence, data analytics, operations analytics, or a related role supporting a business or operations team.
- Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, data transformation logic, troubleshooting, and performance-conscious query design.
- Solid understanding of data modeling and experience working with large, multi-source datasets in Snowflake or a comparable data warehouse.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining dashboards or reporting products in Tableau, Power BI, or a comparable business intelligence platform.
- Working knowledge of ETL or ELT techniques and experience monitoring analytical data processes for accuracy, completeness, and unexpected change.
- Experience applying statistical techniques such as hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, or time-series analysis to operational or business questions.
- Demonstrated ability to turn unclear operational questions into documented requirements, analytical plans, quality-controlled deliverables, and decision-ready recommendations with limited direction.
- Experience using version control and work-management tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence, or comparable tools, to document and manage analytical development
- Strong written and verbal communication, project ownership, and peer-development skills, including the ability to review work constructively and mentor others.
Bonus
- Experience with fulfillment, supply chain, logistics, retail operations, or another large process-driven network.
- Familiarity with dbt or another governed SQL transformation framework.
- Python or R experience for analysis, automation, statistical modeling, or data validation.
- Experience supporting operational experiments, forecasting, capacity planning, labor planning, or continuous improvement initiatives.
