Our Impact:

SFBA monitors and reports on the credit risk and performance of Freddie Mac’s newly purchased loan portfolio. Our insights help shape Single-Family’s risk appetite, support Credit Policy’s evaluation of credit expansion initiatives, and enable internal partners to assess the performance of more than 1,000 loan-selling counterparties. We also provide senior management with monthly reporting on emerging risks. Together, this work helps ensure that the mortgages Freddie Mac purchases remain within the firm’s risk tolerance.

Your Impact:

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly reports on recent loan funding, credit quality, portfolio performance, and emerging risks.
  • Own reports that identify and monitor credit trends, risk indicators, and loan performance drivers.
  • Improve existing processes and reports, contribute ideas that strengthen related business practices, and develop new reporting as risks emerge.
  • Combine technical expertise and business judgment to deliver analyses that inform decisions and may influence the mortgage market.
  • Present findings clearly to a broad range of stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Build expertise in data analysis, visualization, communication, and teamwork while using tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, Excel, SQL, and PowerPoint.
  • Support ad hoc projects and cross-team analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a highly quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience; mortgage or government-sponsored enterprise experience is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of credit risk, financial risk, and the mortgage life cycle.

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Self-motivated and diligent, with strong time management and reliable follow-through.
  • Resilient, adaptable, intellectually curious, and results oriented.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and escalating issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
