We're looking for an Architect, Enterprise Data to join Procore's Enterprise Data Engineering team. In this role, you'll be a force multiplier for the business: designing and building the data platform that puts trusted data directly in the hands of stakeholders so they can make faster, better decisions. AI is central to that mission, and you'll lead how we use it to help every team do more with their data.

As an Architect, Enterprise Data, you'll own the end-to-end architecture of our enterprise data platform, spanning ingestion, warehousing, analytics, data science/ML, and AI agents. This is a hands-on individual contributor role: you'll author the architecture and also write the code, build reference implementations, and create the self-service tools and patterns that let both engineers and business teams unlock business outcomes faster using data. You'll partner with technical and business leaders across the company and lead the data platform side of mergers and acquisitions.

This position reports to the Director, Enterprise Data Engineering and will be based in our Austin, TX office.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of Procore's enterprise data platform across ingestion, warehousing, analytics, data science/ML, and reverse ETL designed so business stakeholders can get from question to trusted answer quickly
  • Lead the platform AI strategy for enterprise data, enabling us to build agents and natural-language interfaces that let business users explore data, automate routine analysis, and move from insight to action
  • Build self-service capabilities, including a governed semantic layer and certified data sources, that put data directly in the hands of business teams and reduce dependence on engineering
  • Act as a force multiplier by creating reusable patterns, templates, and golden paths that help engineers and analysts across the company deliver more
  • Contribute hands-on to building the platform: write production code, build proofs of concept, and prove out new approaches before scaling them
  • Own the data platform strategy for M&A, from assessing acquired companies' data landscapes to leading integration into the enterprise platform
  • Establish standards for data quality, testing, governance, observability, and cost efficiency so stakeholders can trust and act on the data, partnering with Security and Legal on privacy and compliance
  • Partner with Enterprise Technology, Enterprise Analytics & Reporting, and business leaders to shape the data platform roadmap around business outcomes, and provide technical leadership to senior engineers through design reviews and mentorship (this role has no direct reports)

What we're looking for

  • 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or software engineering, including significant time architecting enterprise-scale data platforms
  • Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks, including performance tuning, cost optimization, and security model design
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, and hands-on experience with Fivetran, dbt, Airflow, and Census (or similar tools)
  • Proven track record in data warehouse development, including dimensional modeling and building governed data models and semantic layers
  • A track record of enabling self-service analytics and increasing data adoption among non-technical business users, with measurable impact on decision speed or business outcomes
  • Experience building and shipping AI/LLM-powered applications or agents that business users adopt (e.g., Databricks Genie), plus experience supporting ML workloads
  • Experience leading data integration for M&A or other large-scale platform consolidations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead senior engineers and align technical and business stakeholders without direct authority, with excellent communication skills
