Why join Rolls-Royce?

At Rolls-Royce we are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

Our Internship programs are designed to help you build your career from day one. You'll work on meaningful projects, learn from experienced colleagues, and develop the skills to make a real impact. That's Infinite Potential.

Role overview:

As a Cloud Engineering Intern, you’ll be responsible for cloud configuration, aiding software engineers with deployment, CI/CD pipeline creation/modification, automation and monitoring of our deployment platforms. You’ll join the Defense Digital and IT Team and work day-to-day with an internal organization called the Software Factory. This is a small, agile, and fast-moving team which embraces the concept of “Learn Fast, Fail Fast” as we help to digitally transform the larger business.

What You’ll be doing:

• Configuring our Azure cloud subscriptions for secure operation and deployments of applications and tools

• Creating and maintaining deployment and test automation, CI/CD pipelines, vulnerability scanning, and other capabilities that let our software engineers get their changes to production quickly and efficiently

• Keeping up with industry best practices, new libraries, and tools in the Cloud & DevOps ecosystem and bringing that learning to bear on Rolls-Royce projects

• Integrating with the internal Software Factory organization by helping to coach, guide, mentor, and train part-time programmers and citizen developers in basic and intermediate software and platform development

• Promoting Rolls-Royce as an innovative company internally and externally

Who we’re looking for:

• Advocate of high-performance culture and positive change

• Comfortable with ambiguity - able to define and implement plans that achieve business value without detailed instructions

• Good written and oral communication to a variety of audiences

• Demonstrated capability in building CI/CD Pipelines to deploy and run various test types

• Demonstrated experience working with commercial cloud providers and services, especially Azure

• Tech Stack familiarity is a plus - Azure, GitHub Enterprise, Terraform, Snyk, TypeScript, OPA, GraphQL although various other languages, tools, and concepts are used as well

Preferred qualifications (but not required):

• Experience working with a software team and solving difficult technical problems.

• Experience in and awareness of modern Cloud and DevOps topics (Azure Services, IaC, CI/CD, SCA, automated testing, monitoring & observability, containerization, etc.)

• Awareness of modern software practices (git version control, GitHub/GitLab/other source code managers, VSCode or other IDEs, cloud native / service-based architectures, agile practices, etc.)

Our behaviors drive us - we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. We’ll expect that of you, too.

Relevant majors:

Currently attending an accredited university/college working toward a minimum of a bachelor’s degree:

Common majors include:

• Computer Science

• Engineering and Technology

Students in other majors with relevant experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes etc. are encouraged to apply.

Minimum GPA:3.0

Work authorization eligibility: To be considered, you must also be a U.S. Citizen.

What we offer:

· Meaningful work from day one, with the support to help you succeed

· A culture that invests in your personal and professional development

· The chance to grow your skills while working on real projects in a global company

Join us and help create the technologies that will shape tomorrow. If you're ready to learn, grow and make a lasting difference from day one, we'd love to hear from you.
