Job Description
At FIS, our technology and our people are moving forward. We advance the way the world pays, banks and invests. We believe in building inclusive, diverse teams. Together, we innovate to help our colleagues, clients and communities succeed. If you’re ready to grow your career and make an impact in fintech, we have one question: Are you FIS?
About the Role
You will lead adoption of the Frontend Platform that product teams across FIS build on: the design systems, frameworks and shared components behind thousands of screens in banking, payments and capital markets. You will own the path that moves teams off legacy frameworks and onto the new platform, and the technical relationship with every team that depends on it. As a principal engineer, you will plan and drive large-scale migrations, retire legacy technology and its cost, and turn what you learn from consuming teams into a platform that is easier to adopt. Success means teams move to the new platform faster, legacy and licensing costs come down, and teams across FIS trust the platform.
What You Will Be Doing
· Lead the migration of product teams across FIS from legacy Angular frameworks to React and the new design system.
· Build migration playbooks, codemods, reference implementations and AI-assisted tooling that let teams move with less effort.
· Own the technical relationship with consuming teams: intake, triage, escalation and service levels during US business hours.
· Make adoption and support load visible with metrics, and use them to shape the platform roadmap.
· Lead a global engineering team spanning US and India time zones.
· Keep legacy frameworks secure and stable until their consumers migrate, then retire them.
· Rationalize shared frontend tooling and enterprise licenses, such as AG Grid, across FIS.
· Resolve complex production, integration, performance and security issues in consuming applications.
· Turn recurring issues into platform fixes, documentation and self-service tooling.
· Partner with engineering, product, security and leadership across FIS to set migration priorities and timelines.
· Coach engineers on React, modern frontend engineering and AI-assisted development.
What You Will Need
· Extensive experience building production-grade web applications at enterprise scale.
· Advanced expertise in Angular or React, with working depth in the other.
· Experience leading large framework migrations or modernization efforts across many teams.
· Experience with design systems, component libraries or shared frontend platforms that other teams depend on.
· Proven technical leadership, including leading distributed or offshore teams.
· Clear communication with engineers, product managers and executives, and the ability to influence without authority.
· Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and a point of view on how they change migration and maintenance work.
· Degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Added Bonus If You Have
· Experience in banking, payments or financial services.
· Background in developer relations, solutions architecture or customer engineering.
· Experience with automated code transformation (codemods, AST tooling) at scale.
· Experience managing enterprise software licenses and vendor renewals.
· Familiarity with frontend observability, application security scanning and dependency management.
· Familiarity with secure software development practices for regulated financial environments.
